Growing with Care in Cirencester: The Success Story of Pearl's ProCare

Launching a business in the aftermath of the pandemic might seem daunting, but for Pearl Bentil, it was certainly the right decision.

Today Pearl’s ProCare Ltd, which is based at UBC Cirencester, is thriving, and the company has upgraded its office space three times to accommodate its expanding team.

Naturally, we wanted to shine the spotlight on Pearl’s success and of course, try to find out the secret sauce that’s fueling Pearl’s ProCare’s impressive growth.

So how did it all begin?

“I was a carer for 11 years. During the pandemic, I became a private carer so I could care for people in their own homes. There was very high demand for this service, and I wanted to be able to help more people, so I decided to expand my business and start employing staff.”

Pearl’s ProCare provides home care services across Cirencester, Tetbury, Kemble and surrounding areas. Services include assistance with personal care, prompting and assisting with medication, companionship, preparing meals, and much more.

As Pearl brought on new people, it became evident that she would need an office space to manage the business. She found UBC Cirencester, located nearby in Cirencester Office Park, and initially signed up to a two-person office.

“It was just what we needed. It’s local, it’s perfectly set up to support our business, and importantly for us, it has disabled access. Everything was ideal, so we signed up.”

Just a couple of months later, the team had already begun to outgrow their office. They moved to a 3-person office and then shortly after that, upsized again to a 5-person office.

That’s one of the great benefits of flexible offices - the workspace adapts to the business, making it quick and easy to switch to a different sized office as needed.

The onsite support team is important, too. “Lyn and Michelle are wonderful. They are a great team and they look after us. Nothing is too much trouble, they really care.”

As for the success of Pearl’s ProCare, Pearl puts it down to doing what she loves.

“I’ve always been passionate about caring. I’m happy doing what I do, we all are. We genuinely enjoy it and that means everybody around us becomes friends and family, rather than clients or colleagues. That’s the difference.”

Pearl’s ProCare now employs 19 carers and she has submitted proposals to allow her business to offer a greater diversity of caring services. As the company continues to grow, does this mean she will once again be looking for a bigger office in the near future?

“Sometimes we use a large office in the room next door for our meetings and team training. I did joke with Lyn that I might be interested in that office soon… who knows!”
